A mask for every face that needs one
The purpose of this team of volunteers is to mitigate the PPE (personal protective equipment) shortage by providing healthcare workers with homemade PPE to mitigate the risks they experience as they serve on the frontlines of this pandemic.
Volunteer Opportunities
Anybody and everybody can help! We need you! If you want to help, we have meaningful work for you!
Cutters cut the material, wire, and yarn. This is perfect for those that want to help but do not have sewing experience or access to a sewing machine.
Sew-ers sew the material. Sew-ers specialize in either Halyard Masks (for the slightly more experienced sew-er) or Cotton Masks (appropriate for novice Sew-ers).
We also need help manning distribution sites, transporting material, and sourcing the material (cotton, wire, yarn) needed to make the masks.
Sewing Teams
Team Halyard and Team Cotton
Team Halyard makes masks from Halyard H600, which is provided by local hospitals. Halyard is a surgical grade material that can be sterilized and reused. It is resistant to COVID-19. While not as effective as N95 masks, it is more effective than cotton. These masks are distributed to medical workers treating or interacting with infected patients.
